Three Red Trees

"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24)

Berger’s Comments: The red leaves symbolize the blood Jesus shed for our sins. The trunks of the trees are really too small to support the weight of the treetop. The thin trunk of the trees symbolizes our efforts to be good enough to get into heaven. Our good works can’t support the weight of our sin. I think about all the people going through life trying to be good enough, trying to earn their way into what they describe as the next life.
