Barbara Februar (more images to come)

Barbara was born in Bamberg, Germany. She is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Although entirely self-taught as a painter, Barbara is a European-trained designer and illustrator. Additional studies, acquired in Germany, Italy, the USA and Canada include bookbinding, architecture, interior and textile design.

In 1990 Barbara emigrated to Canada, leaving her career as art director in advertising and design. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. Barbara's contemporary, abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings are represented in private and corporate collections in Europe and North America. Her spectacular custom textiles for the interior design trade are represented by an international furniture company and luxurious silk and velvet scarves are sold through selected venues.

Barbara’s work is inspired by nature, scripture, photography and drawings. Observing her pieces, one is drawn into the mystery of a story. Her approach to painting is experimental and spontaneous. Using a mix of media and incorporating elements of drawing, she creates paintings that are unique in their beauty.
