Matthew 5:7 (Bible – New Testament)
Monsma’s Comments: I chose to only work with the first part of this verse. There was so much I wanted to say about it. I believe when God pours out His unconditional mercy amongst people as shown in the painting, He reaches out in an unobtrusive way, inviting, offering the gift of repentance. Once the believer has received this mercy gift and he has now become "merciful" as a fruit of Christ's granted mercy in their personal life. He discovers that "mercy" is effectively Christ Himself desiring to be "passed on" to others.
This group of people in the painting are experiencing mercy poured out in their midst (the white center). The red ones are the ones in the process of changing after witnessing and receiving Grace and Christ, the blue ones are just "cold out of the camp", and become aware of the Mercy/Grace happening in their midst and in their fellow group-members, until the irresistible Grace of Christ reaches them as
well, changing them forever.
