Blessed Are The Persecuted
from the BEATITUDES series

Inspired by:
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:10 (Bible – New Testament)

Monsma’s Comments:  The reason for the dark suffocating blue-green threatening cloud of persecution is simply that the persecuted believer possesses something the persecutor hates or is scared of. We have to be aware persecution does not only take place under brutal non-believing dictators or regimes. One can be persecuted even in "friendly" environments like church/religion, family or "friends."

Jesus indicates to expect to be persecuted, because they have persecuted Him. What Stephen saw right before he was stoned to death sums up the reward of persecution: "I see heaven opened and the Son of Man standing at the right side of God!" (Acts 7:56) The believer knows that between persecution, death, and him (red) is Christ (white). Christ says, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never die. No one can snatch them away from me" (John 10:28).
